Year 10
A year 10 course was introduced in 2005 in response to the numerous enquiries received annually.
The programme provides a learning style to suit practical students as well as providing the opportunity for students to make an early start on a path to tertiary education by better preparing them for the advanced year 11 and 12 Muresk entry stream.
The programme covers the eight learning area outcomes required in year 10 including English, Mathematics, Health & Education, Science and Agriculture.
Outcomes for Society & Environment and The Arts are included in the syllabus for the above subjects.
Students are able to continue the LOTE studies through the School of Isolated and Distant Education, if they choose to do so.
Specific subjects offered include; Mathematics, English, Science, Agriculture, Horticulture, Automotive, Metal Work, Computing, Health Education and Physical Education.

Animal Production Systems
Animal Production Systems 1A/1B and 2A/2B introduce students to the concept of raising animals as a production system. The environment in which an animal is produced is examined in detail including feeding, stress, disease, climate and social behaviour. The importance of bloodlines and genetics is also studied.
Agriculture
This subject is designed to provide practical background principles and operations of a farm. Students spend one day per week on the farm learning and practicing a structured range of farm skills such as the management of stock, crops and machinery. Demonstrations by farm Technical Officers are given regularly on specific aspects of farm practice. Class work and farm work is coordinated to consolidate the theoretical studies in a practical manner.

Plant Production Systems
Plant Production Systems 1A/1B and 2A/2B covers both practical and theoretical aspects of crop and pasture production. Understanding of how plants grow in order to maximise production is the key aim of this course including environmental factors such as soil, weather and nutrition. Types of crops and variety within types is also covered. Operations that require sowing, maintenance and harvesting are given special consideration. Although the emphasis is on broad acre cropping, students have the opportunity to investigate particular crops of interest.

This pair of units includes basic economics and accounting practices. Those students who have the desire or ability to go on to further study should take this unit pair. These units would typically be a pre-requisite for the final pair of units, BUSINESS MANAGEMENT & ENTERPRISE 2A/B in year 12.[Top]

This pair of units is designed for students who typically have demonstrated desire to move into the world of work and concentrates on exploring options and preparing for success. Where possible, the course content is made relevant to the students' needs. Those who are seeking a path to employment, apprenticeships or further study at TAFE should take this unit pair. These units would typically be a pre-requisite for the final pair of units, CAREER & ENTERPRISE 1C/D in year 12.
Pastoral Industries Studies
This is a Year 12 course that examines all facets of the Pastoral Industry. Skills that are required for successful station work including navigation, fencing, windmill maintenance, grazing management, remote power generation systems and radio procedures are covered. First Aid and Bush Fire Fighting are included in this course. Students have to opportunity to participate in work experience and a week long camp to the Murchison or Gascoyne area.

Where possible, the course content is made relevant to the students' needs in practical areas. Those who are seeking a path to employment or further study at TAFE should take this unit pair. These units would typically be a pre-requisite for the final pair of units, English 1C/D in Year 12.

This pair of units includes more complex content and is suitable for students who are entering at Levels 4/5 and are ready for further development. These units would typically be a pre-requisite for the final pair of units, English 2A/B in Year 12. Those students who have the desire or ability to go on to further study should take this unit pair.

Mathematics 1D/E, 1A/B leading to 2A/B, 1C/D

This pair of units includes more complex content and is suitable for students who are entering at Levels 4/5 and are ready for further development. Those students who have the desire or ability to go on to further study at Muresk should take this unit pair. These units would typically be a pre-requisite for the final pair of units, Mathematics 2A/B in year 12.
Mathematics 1A, 1B leading to 1C, 1D in year 12
This pair of units is designed for students who typically have demonstrated achievement of Mathematics at below Level 4 and who need to consolidate basic content and skills. Where possible, the course content is made relevant to the students' needs in practical areas. Those who are seeking a path to employment, apprenticeships or further study at TAFE should take this unit pair. These units would typically be a pre-requisite for the final pair of units, Mathematics 1C/D in year 12
Both courses are based around the activities of the farm, where possible, dealing with day-to-day practicalities of farm operation.
[Top]Automotive Mechanical
This course is designed for students who want to learn about servicing and maintaining farm vehicles and machines. The theoretical and practical components cover basic mechanical systems and their application. The practical work of approximately half a day per week is completed in the automotive workshop and supplements the students on-farm activities.

This practical course gives students the opportunity to experience working with a variety of building and construction materials and techniques. Instruction takes place for approximately half a day per week in the building and construction workshops and with on-site projects. The skills learned in this course include;
- welding
- concrete work
- painting
- woodworking
- general fabrication.

[Top]The Football Programme
The aim of the football programme is to develop the values of cooperation, respect, tolerance and commitment within the framework of volunteering and giving back to our rural communities.
Participating students study aspects of football including coaching, umpiring, sports trainer, diet and administration. A strong focus of the programme is to develop literacy and numeracy skills using the programme as the motivation and focus. Activities such as treasurers reports, writing match reports for the local papers and taking minutes at meetings will help students with their educational progress.
Students who participate in this programme have the opportunity to complete recognised certificates in Sports Training and Coaching. This can lead to many well paid careers developing with in the Sports Industry.
Students successfully completing this course can gain qualifications in
Auskick Level 1 Coaching Certificate
Level 1 Sports Trainers Certificate
and an introduction to Umpiring and Administration
