College ResidenceThe WA College of Agriculture at Morawa offers a specialist year 10, 11 and 12 residential agricultural course. Students spend their day studying at the farm complex and most reside at the hostel. The hostel has a modern fully equipped kitchen and dining room where students are provided with full board. Two qualified chefs prepare three meals per day for students. Breakfast alternates between a continental breakfast and cooked selection. Students are bussed to the hostel for lunch that consists of a choice between hot food or cold meat and salad. A hot meal is served for dinner followed by desert. Students are welcomed into community activities. Recreational activities available at the hostel include volleyball, tennis, darts, table tennis and a gymnasium currently being fitted. There are several common rooms and a fire pit for informal socialising. The College has full sets of camping and scuba diving equipment. During their stay students are able to participate in the PADI Open Water Diving Certificate which, when successfully completed, will enable them to dive anywhere in the world. Students boarding at the hostel are invited to bring their own horses and motorbikes for weekend entertainment. Regular socials and annual "Ball" allow College students to enjoy the company of other students from the District High School. Spring and Autumn Carnivals are held between the other residential agricultural colleges. Approximately every four to five weeks, there is a closed weekend and students are able to return home for the weekend or stay with local families. A small canteen is opened each afternoon for drinks and snacks. However if students wish they also have daily access to the town shops. All town facilities are within easy walking distance. Councillors are elected to assist in the running of the hostel and help with recreational activities. Study is supervised five nights per week for students to complete set homework and assignments. The hostel has 12 computers and students have access to the internet and email. Students are encouraged to bring their own laptops. Each dorm is fitted with a small laundry for personal use. A full laundry service is provided including mending. |
