WA COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE – MORAWA
FOOTBALL PROGRAM
This program is about
more than promoting participation in all aspects of football at the WA College
of Agriculture – Morawa. The
aim of this program is to develop the values of cooperation, respect,
tolerance and commitment within the framework of volunteering and giving back
to our rural communities.
Over the past 2 – 3
years more than 50% of the students at the College have played football for
the local football club and with this in mind, we see a need within the
College for a sports specific program.
The students will study
aspects of football such as coaching, umpiring, sports trainer, diets,
administration etc so they get a full understanding of the game.
A strong focus of the program will be to develop literacy and numerous
skills in those students that require assistance using the football program as
the motivation and focus.
Perth Football Club has
given this program their full support and has so far sponsored us by supplying
all students who enrol in the course an embroidered shirt.
Through the development of a uniform “Standard of Dress” we are
setting out to develop pride in an identity for the students. PFC have also
indicated a keen interest to support students through the Work Experience
program and to give them opportunities to have access to change rooms and
coaches boxes for senior games including the Eagles and Dockers games.
The Western Australian
Football Development Trust through Luke Rayner along with the North Midlands
Football League and the Morawa Football Club have also indicated their full
support to this program.
In the first year of the
program, students at the WA College of Agriculture – Morawa will obtain
Level I Auskick Coaches accreditation and have six hours of umpiring tuition.
Depending on costs, they may also obtain Level I Sports Trainers
Certificate.
Auskick coaches involved
in this program will also have the opportunity to attend the local primary
schools on Friday afternoons to conduct sessions for all students and these
sessions will be planned with the help of the Western Australian Football
Development Trust. It is
envisaged that the following schools will be involved;
